Book review by: Julia Weir, Emily McMann Title: The Hunger Games Author: Suzanne Collins What’s the book about? The Hunger Games is about 16 year old Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to take her sisters place in the 74th annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a competition in the dim future where a city called the Capitol controls 12 districts of a country called Panem. Each year, one boy and one girl are put on television and picked to fight to the death and be the last tribute standing. But only one thing will change the rules: Love.
Who would this book be suitable for? Older children, because there is some ambitious vocabulary and some chapters may not be suitable for younger children.
Why would you recommend this book? We would recommend this book because it is a non-stop read and you cannot get it out of your head. It makes you realise what might happen if we continue with wars and fighting in the world.
